About Me
After years spent working in a newsroom, Amanda Arden now catches flights for work as she travels around the western United States for CBS News.
She's a digital journalist -- known as a "DJ" within CBS News -- and associate producer. In other words, she's a multimedia journalist who spends most of her time field producing and shooting video for several shows including CBS Evening News, CBS Mornings, CBS Saturday Morning, CBS News 24/7, and 48 Hours.
She also pitches, produces, and writes on-air pieces, and occasionally appears as a reporter on CBS News 24/7 for the stream broadcast, and on CBS News Radio.
While working for CBS News, Arden has covered major events including the University of Idaho murders; the January 2025 fires in Los Angeles; the 2024 pro-Palestinian protests; and the 2023 funeral of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
She has pitched and produced stories for CBS News on a variety of topics including a program educating children on firearm safety, the collective effort to replant forests impacted by wildfire, how honeybees are contributing to AI technology, and more.
Arden started her career as a digital content producer at KVAL/KMTR in Eugene, Oregon. She then continued her career as a digital content producer in Portland, Oregon at KATU before becoming a digital reporter at KOIN, also in Portland.
During her time at KOIN, Arden reported on the devastating Oregon wildfires of 2020, the impacts of long-COVID, police department staffing after the 2020 protests, and Portland crime trends over the years.
Arden graduated from the University of Oregon with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and French in 2015.
Outside of work, Arden enjoys reading, running, biking, hiking, skiing, and gardening. She lives in Portland with her husband and two cats.
